I see this a bit differently as we need to limit the “single source” solutions and find a hybrid model. We need the best of breed where things are interoperable, and don’t require different platforms, sign-ins and analytics in order to leverage the tools.
We have to move away from “single source solution” – one vendor with one or two solutions. This is just not sustainable – not cost effective, not reasonable, and definitely, not timely to meet the many demands facing healthcare. Identifying a vendor who can provide multiple solutions that preserves our highly valuable nursing resources and improve patient care is the beginning of a long professional relationship. Everyone benefits. And finally, equally important to me, is finding a company that share your values and passion for improving care in a cost effective manner. Select a vendor who is equally as value driven as you are and you will want to work with far into the future with minimal bumps along the road.
