Dr. Bonnie Clipper: ACNL update

I recently had the opportunity to speak at the Association of California Nurse Leaders annual conference. The theme of the conference was ‘Through adversity to the Stars.’ I was struck at how well attended this conference was and how actively engaged all of the attendees were. I had the incredible opportunity to speak to this group about where I believe the future of nursing practice is headed. I shared my insights and how I envision nurses adopting technology at a much faster pace, specifically having nurses lean into opportunities to not only design and develop technologies, but also lead the implementation.

I can honestly say that I have never had so many people come up and talk to me, not only throughout the conference, but after I presented as well. They were hungry for information, wanted to know how they could start implementing virtual nursing, robots, smart sensors in their own organization and what they should share with their staff. It was exciting to see so much energy at the conference. This is exactly what we need in nursing at this incredibly challenging time.

I am pleased to say that the leaders I got to meet at this conference are well-positioned to start leading California and sharing their best practices with the rest of the country.
